Denmark M/1769 infantry musket.
This flintlock musket was produced during the reign of Caroline Matilda of
Great Britain who was Queen of Denmark and Norway from 1766 to 1772 by marriage
to King Christian VII.
The barrel is in excellent condition with both sets of ramrod spring and the bayonet lug. The touch hole vents well to the breech. The lock is also in good condition with a strong mainspring.
The side-plate is marked: BUDV : CP. N 436. The numbers 436 appear in several other places including the lock and barrel, and probably indicates the gun number.
The initials CP could imply the gun was deployed in Copenhagen. The walnut fullstock has a repair to the fore section and some numbers crudely marked on the left side.
The ramrod is unusual and rather heavy.
